Preamble:

YHC grabbed this date a few months ago knowing it was F3 Alpha's 9 year anniversary. Never did I imagine we would have 57 PAX come join in on the fun. Knight Rider had the idea of bringing the Norseman clan over to celebrate and the idea ignited from there. A mini-convergence was born and what would otherwise be a normal Thursday turned into a big celebration. Nacho Libre jumped onboard to Co-Q and several PAX signed up for coffee and donuts. YHC posted this message yesterday to Slack and 43 PAX officially HC'd, which is the most I've ever seen. "It's been 9 years since a very generous group of men came down from Charlotte, NC to help "giveaway" the gift we call F3 to men they did not know. They stayed overnight in hotels to ensure they instilled the core principles of F3 in the Alpha doing both beatdown and classroom training. They named the first AO in northern Atlanta "The Rubicon", meaning the die had been cast, signifying a meaningful boundary had been crossed, with no turning back. The men of the Alpha have grown this original AO into dozens of AO's, multiple sub-regions, and even spawned new regions, making an impact on thousands of men". 57 PAX actually showed up with dozens of pre-runners and pre-ruckers. 5:30AM came and after a a few words and quick disclaimer, off into the gloom we went.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the pool parking lot doing high knees and karoake along the route. Circle up for:
  • SSH
  • Weed Picker
  • Imperial Walker
  • 21's (SSH with Q counting to 5 in cadence, then silence until 21 when all the PAX must stop in cadence). Burpee penalty was paid on round 1.
  • 21's round 2 was a success!
  • Burpee Apocalypse (10, 9, 8, etc) with "get out of jail free" skips for getting the 5 core principles of F3 correct and in sequence

The Thang:

SUICIDE 9's Already in the correct spot, YHC now informed the PAX we would be doing Suicide 9's. The number 9 for the years Alpha has been in existence. Using the islands for suicide runs,  PAX would do 9 merkins on the baseline, then 9 squats at each island, all suicide style. Mary for the six. It was at this point that YHC turned the Q duties over to our beloved Norseman, Nacho Libre. Head over to the field of dreams for some fun. 3 MAN RELAY Grab 2 partners and form a 3 man team. One PAX would be doing 9 merkins while another PAX was holding his legs in a wheelbarrow position and doing 9 alternating squats. The third PAX was bear crawling with the goal of getting around the entire field, which we did. HILL 9's Next up was hill 9's with 1 merkin at bottom and 8 burpees at top, alternating each time to equal the number 9. Time running out, we finished up there and made it back to the flag with no time for Mary.

COT:

It was an honor leading today. F3 has been such a gift in my life that I spoke a few words of gratitude during COT that I believe majority of the men echoed. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting the anniversary. There were a ton of old school PAX who posted this morning who were there for those early months and years, and even two who were there for the original launch, DC2 and Boomer. Many may not know that Wills Park was not the original home of the Rubicon. In fact, Newtown Park (now known as the Boneyard AO) was where the original flag was planted. It was soon moved over to Wills Park after a rogue park official complained. Alas, now Wills Park is home to the best and original AO in the Alpha. Lots of new faces today and even one downranger from Charlotte. A few words of prayer were spoken. Thanks to all the PAX that made today happen, especially Nacho for the Co-Q and Knight Rider who helped organize. Great coffeeteria and donuts followed along with a Site Q transfer of Avis to Lil Hurt. Honored to lead. - Cookie
