What do the Merkin Mile and Paula Abdul Have in Common?

AO: Big Creek

When: 2024-11-27

QIC: Ma Bell

PAX (8): Crab Cake, DirtyMO, Ma Bell, Runner-Up, Snake, Snowman, Spotlight, UMass-Todd Doherty

Preamble:

'Twas a beautiful Thanksgiving Eve morning to pre-pay our penance for the impending Day of Gluttony. Only 2 for the pre-run but the conversation was fantastic. And as a bonus, an FNG-toting downranger pulled up just before launch to complete our starting 8.

Warm-O-Rama:

Little jog over to the track for some warm-up exercises and explanation of what was to come. Thanks to Snake for showing YHC the way in!

The Thang:

Thang 1: Ma Bell Merkin Mile: (mucho chesto* followed by a lap) x 4. We ran the lap clockwise because...no reason really, but it short-circuited Snowman. Next, we Indigenous People ran back past the flag to the rock pile at the bottom of No Parking Sign Hill. Thang 2:  Grab a rock for some Paula Abdul (2 steps forward / 1 step back) but signs instead of steps. Advance your rock 2 signs up the hill do an ascending number of an thrusters, run back 1 sign and do an ascending number of burpees. Run back up to your rock and advance it to the next sign, do the thrusters, then back down 1 sign for the burpees. Repeato until time called. 2 made it to the top (7 signs up, including the fire hydrant). Put your rocks back and Indigenous Run back to the flag for a set of 100s

COT:

All the things - count, names (including an FNG), announcements, prayers, BOM

Naked-Man Moleskin:

  • First, welcome FNG Runner-Up. According to his DR FIL, "he hates to lose." Thus, the name
  • To answer the question in the title, nothing really, other than they make a great combo for a beat down
  • Thrusters and merkins are under-utilized. I vow to make merkins great again
  • Y'all, Snake was at a bootcamp! That's rarer than rocking horse poo!
  • It was an honor to lead you men
  • MIAGD, Go Pack, and as always, GTHC
