Preamble:

On this illustrious day in history, Nov. 17, 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger was sworn in as Governor of California.  In honor of the Governator, PAX did an Arnold inspired workout.

Warm-O-Rama:

  • Side Straddle Hops (15)
  • Good Mornings (10)
  • Weed Pickers (10)
  • Willie Mays Hays (6)

The Thang:

Predator Jungle Run – “Get to the choppa!”
  • Mosey to parking lot area near main park entrance.
  • PAX completed a S.L.I.M. circuit (Squats, Lunges, Imperial Walkers, Merkins) at a count of 20 (Cumming Count, where applicable) for each exercise and after each exercise would complete a run around a loop between the entrance and the football tower and had to get back to the “choppa” where the loop started.
  • PAX did this same circuit a second time – Total Recall.
  • Mosey to first football field and meet in the middle.
Commando Strength Circuit- Rescue Alyssa Milano
  • Magic number was 38 because Arnold was the 38th Governor of California.
  • After 30 reps completed at each station, PAX would come to the middle and complete 8 burpees:
    • Carolina Dry Docks (30) + 8 Burpees
    • Big Boy Sit-Ups (30) + 8 Burpees
    • Mountain Climbers (30) + 8 Burpees
    • Bonnie Blairs (30) + 8 Burpees
Twins DORA- Who’s Arnold and who’s Danny?
  • PAX partnered up for DORA and retrieved a coupon to share.  PAX took turns doing sets of 20 reps each of C.O.B.S. (Curls, Overhead Press, Bent-Over Rows, and Skull-Crushers) while their partner would do Bernie (aka “I’ll be backs”) across the field and then run back to their partner and switch.  This was repeated until time called.
Terminator Ring of Fire – Who will be terminated?
  • PAX did a Ring of Fire competition where each PAX had to complete a Merkin (starting at one and adding one for each round) and then plank when it was not their turn until they could do no more.  If a PAX could not hold the plank or complete the number of Merkins for that round, they were out and had to complete squats until everyone finished.
  • Shoutouts to DirtyMO for the win and Flambeaux for a strong second place.

COT:

  • Prayers lifted up for a health issue, a surgery, and other needs.  Praise for children acting better.  Prayers to be the men we are called to be.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

The word of the day was courage.  C.S. Lewis said that: “Courage is not simply one of the virtues but the form of every virtue at the testing point, which means at the point of highest reality.”  PAX were encouraged to choose courage to do the hard thing, and anytime they fell, just like Arnold they should say, “I’ll be back!”
