Combat Fitness Test sort of

AO: Big Creek

When: 2024-10-16

QIC: Napalm

PAX (7): Crab Cake, DirtyMO, Inseam, Relient, UMass-Todd Doherty, Avis dropped in from Alpha

Preamble:

This is based on the Marine Corps Combat Fitness Test (CFT).  Now my back is sore, just like after taking the CFT.

Warm-O-Rama:

Focused on stretching and limbering up.  No side-straddle-hop.

The Thang:

The first two events of the CFT are the 800 meter run and the ammo can lift. To simulate those events, we did  two laps of 400 meter (estimated) run and 50 shoulders to overhead cider lift. After a 10 count to catch our collective breath, we moved to the rugby pitch for the rest of the beatdown. The third event in the CFT is the movement under fire, so we did two different partner exercises to simulate that event. 1st: We paired up and deposited the cinders on the mid-field line then moved to the try line to start the event.
  • Partner one, held plank while partner two ran from the try line to the mid-filed line, where he picked up two cinders and farmer carried them back to the try line.
  • At that point he dropped the cinders, did five negative merkins on top of the cinders, (negative meaning the PAX' body went below the two cinders at the bottom of the merkin).
  • While partner two was doing his negative merkins, partner one is stood up from his low plank.
  • Partner two then picked up partner one and carried him to the mid-filed line and deposited him there.
  • At this point, the partners switched roles with partner one running to retrieve the cinders while partner two held the low plank.
Next:
  • Partner one farmer carried the two cinders in a zig-zag pattern, while partner two low crawled from the try line to the mid-field line, switching places every time the partner with the cinders completed one zig (to the left) and one zag (to the right).
We then moseyed back to the flag to stretch our sore backs.

COT:

The first time in a long time there where more praises than prayer requests. We emphasized the importance of keeping the folks in Western North Carolina in our prayers and continuing to volunteer and donate to support them, as it will be a long time until things are back to normal for them.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

My back is sore!
